The buildings and land that comprise the Pearl Street Lofts have witnessed centuries of natural, sociological, and industrial history. In this presentation, hosted and sponsored by KITE, we’ll take a quick trip through a vast period of time — from continental drift to 2004 — in order to better understand the six acres we call home, and to see how this historical “core sample” reflects the currents of American history more generally.
Tripp Evans and his husband Ed Cabral moved to Pearl Street fourteen years ago; he’s been putting off writing his book, Six Acres of Providence, for thirteen of those years. He received his Ph.D. in the History of Art from Yale and teaches American art and architecture at Wheaton College.
