Emily Hesse

Architectural Designer

As an Architectural Designer, Emily works in all areas of the practice. At KITE, Emily assists with a variety of design projects, marketing efforts, and operational tasks. Her architectural work ranges from feasibility studies for large scale housing projects to construction documents for interior fit-outs, including historic properties.

Emily received her undergraduate degree from Connecticut College where she served as a teaching assistant for the architectural design studios and was awarded the Architectural Studies department medal for excellence in design, academic achievement, and service to the department. Having a lifelong interest in historic architecture and cultural heritage, she supplemented her interdisciplinary Architectural Studies major with minors in Economics and Environmental Studies to better understand how human history and innovation can affect the built environment. She received a scholarship to attend an archaeological conservation intensive in Rome, Italy during the summer of 2018, during which she assisted in the archaeological excavation and conservation of a 1st century Roman villa.

Prior to joining KITE’s team, Emily worked with both the I-195 Redevelopment District and Preserve Rhode Island to help shape not only Rhode Island’s future, but also preserve its rich history.

In addition to her interest in the intersection of innovation and historic preservation, Emily creates commissioned custom artwork including needle-felted or painted portraits of pets, as well as architectural paintings.
