Michael Chieffalo, AIA

Mike’s background as an architect spans a range of project types and scales. He is motivated to find solutions that emerge from synthesizing environmental, social, cultural, political, and economic dimensions of each project. At the core of his work are commitments to social and environmental justice and the belief that good design helps build strong communities.

As a Senior Architect at KITE, Mike draws upon his broad experience with the production of the built environment to lead multifamily residential and higher education projects. He collaborates closely with clients, colleagues, teams of consultants, builders, artisans, scientists, and other stakeholders to produce work that is engaging and enduring.

Mike holds a B.Arch from Roger Williams University and Graduate degrees from Columbia University and Harvard University; is licensed to practice architecture in Massachusetts and Rhode Island; is LEED GA accredited; and maintains memberships with the American Institute of Architects, the Boston Society of Architects, Living Future Institute, and Built Environment Plus. Prior to his work at KITE, Mike spent nearly 4 years advocating for inclusive and sustainable community development at the urban scale as a Planning Commissioner in Norwalk, CT.

Outside of the office, Mike engages in urban research, actively publishing articles in international architecture and urbanism journals; tries to maintain an active outdoor life, enjoys playing music, fiddles with photography, and is enamored with his antique home, built in 1780.
