The Winslow Building

ASH NYC’s latest project with KITE is the complete renovation and exterior restoration of the historic structures at 225 Weybosset Street in downtown Providence, known as The Winslow Building. The existing building is in the form of two distinct halves with split levels that share a single central stair.

Originally used as a music hall called “The Adelphi Club” and piano shop on the upper levels, the ground floor retail is positioned to take advantage of its location across the street from the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) and the JWU campus. KITE developed plans of varying sizes that highlighted the historic features and complied with current codes, and helped coordinate review of historic elements with the Providence Revolving Fund and the RI Historic Preservation and Heritage Commission.

The work also includes reconstruction of the badly deteriorated storefronts along Weybosset and Mathewson Street. KITE also assisted with the fit-out of Ellie’s Bistro, one of the newest businesses to become a part of the ASH NYC and KITE formula for making thoughtful, creative spaces that reflect the spirit of Providence.
